New Dog Control Orders in Gunnersbury Park

As I entered Gunnersbury Park last night for an excellent session, I noticed a sign bolted to the Fence in the main car park informing of a new dog control order that came in to effect on the 3rd May 2011 after consultation during December 2010.

The Gunnersbury Dog Control Order

- It seems to be good news all round in that people who do not clean up after their dogs could be fined up to £1000.
- Another interesting point to note surrounds dogs without leashes & it states that owners should be in control of their dogs in the park at all times or be on a leash that is no longer than 6m.
- In addition, 1 person is not allowed to walk more than 4 dogs unless they have permission from the land owner.

Although all 3 of these orders might explain why the park was devoid of the groups of dog walkers last night, the tricky part will be enforcing this Order, something we’ve noticed when ever pointing another order out to the golfers in the park.

I’m happy about the dog control order and I honestly think it’s nothing more than reasonable but please Fellas, remember to take a deep breath & to engage dog walkers with patience and consideration, especially if you are going to point out any details of this order.

I’d also like to thank Hounslow Council for considering all Gunnersbury park visitor’s safety by creating this order. View the entire order for Hounslow in more detail
