Camping in Littlehampton

kite surfers in Littlehampton - East Beach

Fab, Claudio and I had a very enjoyable kiteboarding session in Littlehampton last year but we were later informed that land based traction is banned there. Kitesurfing however isn’t banned & I spent an hour just ogling the kite surfers up. I took my wife to Littlehampton for the day on Saturday and loaded the little pop-up on the off chance that we decided to stay over and camp. No kites came along because she’s quick to point out that all our off-time is planned around my kiting habit.

Littlehampton had heaps to offer for the non-kiting withdawal sufferers and we had so much fun that we decided to hunt for a camping spot and stay the night. I found one less than 3 miles from the West-beach called the Ship & Anchor Marina.
I liked the Ship & Anchor camp site because it
- Cost £15 for the night.
- They have their own Pub with excellent home made food & 11 local Ales. I strongly suggest the Oxford Golden.
- They are right next to the river Arun.
- Walking distance from Ford train station for those without cars.
- They have 3 camping sections split between long stay, Families and a couples area which is more quiet and secluded.
- Clean wash rooms and the usual facilities. A shower’s cost 20p.
- Lot’s and lots of hiking & mountain biking in the area.
- The Historic town Arundel is less than 5 miles away

If landboarding wasn’t banned on Littlehampton beaches, I’d be planning a meet there, for damn sure.

I hereby claim this beach on behalf of the Fellas
